Today’s post is brought to you by the letter “S” and the Letter “Z”

S is for sleep.
Sigh
Something I’ll apparently be having nothing of
Seems awfully lonely in the wee hours or the morning
Should I order a pizza?
Suppose I should take some Benadryl, huh?
This sucks!

Z is for…
Uh…
Um…
*taps keyboard impatiently with fingers…
Think think think

Oh forget it. I can’t think of anything that starts with

Step up and be counted!

It's time again for the yearly Home Show in Savannah this weekend, and I've been busy of late.

Several customers have exhibit booths proudly displaying my wares so it’s important that I am there to polish them up, decorate them with literature, and wave my perfectly manicured nails around like a trade show Vannah White. I will answer any and every question, pass out free key chains, and woo them with my salesmanship skills until they are absolutely convinced they must have our product in their home or die .

I started thinking about how fun it would be if this was instead a Blogger’s Convention and trade show. Each exhibitor would introduce some new fangled concept in personal web log design, and publishers would vie for the rights to the most sought out of Authors, offering obscene amounts of cash for our talents as writers.

It also gave me an idea for a poll I could use with my free 30 day subscription to Neomyz poll creator.

It was either that or:

How much do you like Me?
a. I like you
b. I like you –like you
c. I don’t like you at all
d. You’re a doodie head

Please humor me and take the poll!

Due to a problem with the script for the poll, (and my lack of ability to fix it) I've removed the poll on Blogging conventions. Please feel free to continue participating in the one featured in this post.

P.s. If you think i'm a doodie head...then...then...oh yeah...well...I know you are but what am I?

I got this in an email...

I got this in an email a few days ago. It's similar to one I received many many years ago that made such an impression on me. It illustrates a basic philosophy that I try to live by....
and it explains why I drink my milk in my good crystal.

I thought I would share.
------------------

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched something on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, "How about going to lunch in a half hour?" She would gas up and stammer, "I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain." And my personal favorite: "It's Monday." She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches.. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!

We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Jr. toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet. We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of "I'm going to," "I plan on," and "Someday, when things are settled down a bit."

When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of Rollerblades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now...go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to......not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask "How are you?" Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow." And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say "Hi"?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift....Thrown away....
Life is not a race.
Take it slower.
Hear the music before the song is over.

When Suzanne Smiles: The final Chapter.

Well then.
What could I possibly say that hasn’t already been said about my Dentist and his new Porshe/house on the mountain/house on the beach/private jet/Costa Rican property/ (fill in the blank)?
His children are doing well, thank you for asking. They’re both in their 2nd year of college you know…one will make a fine Surgeon one day, and the other should be set for law school by 2008. I had hoped for a thank you card, or some small token of appreciation for my selfless support of their continuing educational needs, but hmmmm, as of yet, not the first word. I’m sure their just busy bless their little hearts.
After a final grinding, filing and sandpaper session my teeth rival that of any red carpet diva. I’m a new woman in my new bright shiny flawless Porcelain teeth and aren’t they beautiful? *
*The correct answer is “oh my, yes Suzanne…just beautiful”. (Or something equally as flattering).
$12,000 later (shudder) I am pleased with the results. My teeth actually fit together when I bite down, and that annoying little pop and click has disappeared from my jaw joint.!
I’m happy on pain killers, and ready to take a nappie nappie.
Except for that one little financial thing I still need to work out with Guido…
Life is good on this 15th day of February.

Contemblogging ...for lack of a better title.

I’ve been doing a great deal of thinking lately.

Five months ago I had no idea what a blog was. Since then I’ve learned that having a blog can mean many different things for different people. Some use them as an outlet for creative writing, expressing poetry, or telling stories. Other’s use them as a gathering point to centralize news events, political stories, arts, crafts, recipes or photographs. On occasion you might even find a blog where someone pours their struggles out into the blogosphere touching the hearts and souls of unsuspecting readers. Funds are raised for charities, prayers are consolidated for those in need, and friendships are formed throughout a virtual community.

I re-read the first post I wrote on Contemblogging. I debated with myself on what purpose it would serve, what void it would fill if I made the jump and what prey tell, would I even write about.
I contemplated .

And so it was born.

I filed it under the humor category of the blog directory because I suspected it would be a place for me to talk about the silly things that run through my mind on a daily basis. It’s turned out to be more of a general blog than anything else, not particularly complying with any of the typical norms. I’m not sharing knitting skills, I’m not a minority Daddy blogger, I don’t have anything inspirational to say, and let’s be honest…a stand up comedian I’m not. I feel like the outsider…the kid that blends into the woodwork not really having a place to fit in…a category to call home. My BLAHg.

I’ll be honest. That’s how I’ve felt most of my life so it should come to me as no surprise that blogging would turn out to be the same sort of experience. Just good enough to go unnoticed by the bullies, but not quite the prom queen.

I’ve spent the majority of my life trying to better myself, striving to reach something…. ANYTHING,… to improve my self worth. What I’ve learned is that there is always someone who can do it better. "It" being the current task at hand. I can do alot of things a little, but still can't find the one thing I do best.

I’m still searching for my purpose.

I’m contemblogging again.

Wednesday

V.D.

No… not venereal disease silly.
Valentine’s Day!!

Some people dread it like the flu. Others require very little urging to do something kind for their loved ones, and find Valentines Day just another wonderful excuse.

I happen to fall into the latter of categories, because I can think of no better holiday than one that’s sole purpose is to celebrate LOVE. Whether it be the love you have for your partner, child, parents, or friends, there’s a Hallmark card just waiting on the shelf with their name on it.

When it all boils down to it, love is what makes the world go around. It’s what matters the most in a society full of opportunities to skew your priorities and focus on all the wrong things. We tend to neglect the ones we are the closest too, saving manners and polite social etiquette for strangers we pass in the mall. We forget to say thank you to our partners for doing the dishes for a change, or making sure the laundry is done. We neglect to comment on how smashing they look in their new outfit today, or how nice the project is turning out that they’ve been working on all week. We hop into bed, exhausted at the end of the day, and start to read or watch television…forgetting to wrap our arms around one other in a warm inviting hug. Isn’t it after all, these little things that made the relationship so wonderful in the beginning?

Feeling loved and loving others is for me, the most important aspect of life and so I celebrate Valentines Day in all of its commercial glory…without bitterness, or dread. I decorate the dinner table with red, and serve heart shaped goodies. We eat chocolate, and exchange cards, I make sure my Valentines know how special they are to me, and how much I love them… each and every day of the year.

Has anyone seen my letter? The one between "G and J"

I seem to be missing a key on my keyboard tis morning. I’m appy to say it isn’t a letter tat I use a lot, but never te less, tis means I will once again be needing repair work on my laptop. I’m not appy about tis at all, because I use my laptop every day and tis will be most inconvenient. tere seems to be a small problem wit te rigt sift key as well, causing an embarrassing issue with capitalization mistakes stemmed from te rigt key malfunction.

I’m not trilled wit te timing of tis eiter because little man is sick and I’ve got to take im to te doctor wic leaves little time for laptop repairs. –big sig -

I’m considering putting out an all points bulletin and informing te police. Peraps my little key has been kidnapped and is lost and scared all alone, trying to get ome rigt tis very moment? If anyone knows te wereabouts of my missing key, please inform te local autorities as soon as possible.

Tank you

Sunday

I was ruthless.
I spared no feelings and accepted no excuses.
I made it clear there was to be no more crude or indecent behavior on my watch…
or else.
No wild parties, and no consorting with neighbor pairs no matter how sexy they might be.

Except for that one incident forcing me to separate the hoochie ankle straps from the Nikes… It looks like order has returned to the closet.

- Two huge hefty bags full of clothes ready for good will
- Multiple pairs of well behaved, shoes.

Who’s the boss now… Huh?

How are those resolutions working out for ya?

After a quick glance at my New Year's resolution list

I've decided it's time to tackle the cleaning of my closet this weekend.

This is not a task for the weak at will I’m here to tell you because I can still fit in to all of my clothes (and I’ve been collecting since college)! I might also remind you of my inability to make a decision and what a struggle it will be for me to decide what to discard, and what to keep.

Don’t even get me started on the gazillion pairs of shoes living in there either! You’ll never convince me those shoes aren’t multiplying on their own, …at night…when the door is closed, and the lights are off.

Tell me there’s not some wild monkey shoe lovin’ going on!

I walked in one morning to find the flip flops all over the floor, sexy boots doing a dry hump with the Nike’s… business pumps on top of the summer sandals, …. Next day there was a pair of open toed pumps on the shelf that I have no recollection of purchasing. Mmm hmmm.

I have a nice big walk-in style closet equipped with shelves, and lined with rows of hanging racks at varying levels.

Should be enough room for the shoe families, all of their offspring AND a new Starbucks by the time I’ve finished.

Wish me luck and ...

Decisiveness.
